Redeveloped W Hotel to Come to Aspen Mountain in 2018

New W Aspen hotel begins the building process.

The Sky Hotel in Aspen, Colorado is set to receive new management. In a recent deal with Marriott International’s W hotels, Sky Hotel’s owner, Northridge Capital, LLC has approved a new project for the site. The site will be redeveloped to create the W Aspen and The Sky Residences at W Aspen. After securing the necessary financing and obtaining the right permits, the project began at the end of May. It will be the W’s first North American alpine destination for the W Hotels Worldwide brand.

The project is set to open for the 2018-2019 skiing season. The hotel will consist of 88 guest rooms with six suites. The lobby will stick to the tradition W living room, instead. Plus, the hotel will feature a 12,000-square foot rooftop bar and pool with 1,600 square feet of patio space. Meeting are also to be had at this resort. Additionally, the hotel will offer a 1,100-square foot gym to keep guest fit and 1,600 square feet of event and meeting space. The hotel will also offer a full-service ski ship to assist guests with their every ski need. Designs for the hotel come from Rowland+Broughton Architecture and Nemaworkshop along with the W’s own design team.

In addition to the hotel space, the site will also offer residential space. The Sky Residence at W Aspen will also provide 11 residences. These homes will be located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the property and will offer spectacular mountain views. Residents will have access to all the amenities and services offered by the W Aspen, and will have their own private rooftop deck for residents to use. This deck will feature a pool and gathering areas.
